No matter the time, if a tree were to fall on your home it is important to have an evacuation plan. Family members should know where they should exit and where they are meeting beforehand. It is also a good idea to have “go bags.” These bags should carry emergency supplies and anything you need to have. You may not be able to get back into your house, so it is important to have copies of important documents, medication, and car keys.
After making sure everyone can safely exit the house, call 911. Do not attempt to get back into your house or remove the tree yourself. If someone is trapped, call 911 right away and wait for emergency personnel to assist you.
When the shock of the emergency is over. Now is the time to call your insurance agent. Most policies will cover storm damage to your home. A fallen tree can be considered debris from a storm.
